Founded in 1957, the San Francisco International Film Festival is the longest-running film festival in the Americas. The annual event features a range of marquee premieres, international competitions, compelling documentaries, short and mid-length films, live music performances, and dazzling red carpet events.

The SFFILM Festival is deeply rooted in the culture and process of film appreciation—film as an art form and a meaningful agent for social change—and is an important showcase for the most searching and innovative films from around the globe.

As the artist and design lead for the 68th San Francisco International Film Festival, I created the festival’s key art and led the visual expression across all campaign materials. The concept centers around a refreshed version of SFFILM’s signature “cameraman” icon — reimagined as a bold, stylized figure in motion, symbolizing creative momentum and the collective energy of filmgoers and filmmakers alike.

Using the updated brand color palette I helped define in a prior engagement with SFFILM, I built a vibrant, modern composition that plays with rhythm, geometry, and movement. The burst of popcorn shapes flowing from the character’s hand represents stories being shared — dynamic, unexpected, and communal.

From print collateral to digital screens, the design reinforces SFFILM’s identity as a space where bold ideas and diverse voices come together. The result is a visual system that feels joyful, cinematic, and unmistakably part of San Francisco’s cultural landscape.
